It seems a good idea to have domain and host in the same place.But it some downsides for security purpose. So it’s always recommended to buy the domain from a top domain registrar like Namecheap and host it on a reliable host.
In this post, I will show you how to register a domain name with Namecheap.
Namecheap is an ICANN accredited registrar that has been in domain business since 2001. It has over 4.7 million domain name under its management. Namecheap is very popular for providing domain names at a cheap price. Namecheap was voted as the best domain registrar by a poll on Lifehacker.
Registering A Domain Name With Namecheap
Purchasing a domain name from Namecheap is extremely easy. Just follow these 6 simple steps to get your domain name.
Step 1: Go to Namecheap
Just click on this link, Namecheap.com, to get started with Namecheap.
Step 2: Check the Availability of Domain
The very first thing you need to do is, check if your desired domain name is available.
Once you are on the Namecheap.com, enter your domain name in the search box and click on the “Search” button.
If the domain name is available, it will show “This domain is available!” message (1). It will also show the available domains for other extensions like .net, .site, .xyz etc.
If your desired name is not available, you can search for another name by entering it in the search box (2) and clicking on “Search” button (3).
Step 3: Add Domain to Cart
Once you are happy with the domain name, it’s time to add it to your cart.
Just click on cart icon (1) to the right of your domain name. It will be added to the cart on the right-hand side. Now click on “View Cart” button (2).
Step 4: Confirm Your Order
Then you will be landed to the ‘Shopping Cart’ page.
Here you can select the years (1) for which you want to buy the domain name.
Namecheap also offers WhoisGuard and PremiumDNS for privacy and uptime protection.
WhoisGaurd hides your private information associated with the domain name like your mailing address, phone number, etc. PremiumDNS delivers 100% DNS uptime and protects your site from DDoS attack. You can enable these services if you want the services. I personally prefer using WhoisGuard (2).
You can also buy hosting from Namecheap. But I always prefer buying hosting from a renown hosting providers like HostGator.

If you want to buy hosting from Namecheap, click on ‘cart’ icon (1) right to the hosting. Namecheap also offers PositiveSSL and private email. These services are recommended for business sites. If you want to buy these services, click on the cart icon right (2) to the services.
Once you have added all the services you want to buy in your cart, it’s time to confirm the order.
Before confirming the order, I’d recommend you to use a promo code to get some discounts. You can get latest Namecheap promo code here.
Now enter the promo code and click on ‘Apply’.
If the promo code has worked for you, click on “Confirm Order” button.
Step 5: Log In/Create An Account
If you already have an account on Namecheap, sign into your account (1). Otherwise, you need to create an account on Namecheap (2).
Just provide the information and create a new account.
Step 6: Complete Your Payment
Once you have created a new account or signed in with your existing account, now you need to pay your bill.
If you want to pay with Paypal, just click on the “Check out with Paypal” button on the right-hand side (1). It will redirect you to the Paypal payment page.
In my case, I am going to pay with my Payoneer MasterCard. I have to select other payment options (2).
If you select “Secure Card Payment”, you have to provide your card information. Namecheap only accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Provide your card information and click on ‘Continue’ button from the right-hand side.
It will take few seconds to confirm your payments.
Once you’ve completed the payment, you will get the order summary on your email.
That’s it. You are the proud owner of a domain name.
